Taxidermy London * The City is an Animal * Unstable Installation Series
In 2015, Taxidermy activated East London’s 5th Base Gallery as a surgical theatre for the urban body, marking a key intervention in the Unstable Installation Series (LaPieza #940) curated by Anto Lloveras. This project treats the city as organism, dissected through 940 urban cuts: from MEAT—cutouts of benches and signage—to URBAN RINGS, rubber residues juxtaposed with the 10,000 Twins photo-series. MINIMAL VALUE reconfigures coins and leftovers into totemic relics, while COPOS continues its video-cloud of urban traces, reaching entry #477. Echoing Günter Grass’s poem, the show proposes the city as a shell—scratched, incubated, fragile—where senile chicks and embryonic polyglots murmur futures within the asphalt womb. Following earlier dissections in Madrid, France, Norway, and Berlin, Taxidermy performs a ritual of socioplastics, rendering the metropolis both scene and specimen. (Lloveras, A. 2015/2026)
