Anto Lloveras · FieldArchitect · Socioplastics · LAPIEZA-LAB · Madrid
Anto Lloveras is a Spanish architect, urbanist, educator, curator and transdisciplinary researcher based in Madrid. His practice operates across architecture, contemporary art, urban research, pedagogy, curatorial systems, moving image, conceptual writing and knowledge infrastructure. Rather than treating these fields as separate careers, his work constructs them as a single distributed architecture: a long-duration system where projects, essays, exhibitions, urban observations, videos, indexes, datasets, DOI deposits, blogs and conceptual operators reinforce one another as parts of a public epistemic field.
Socioplastics is the central name of this field. Developed by Anto Lloveras and LAPIEZA-LAB since 2009, it functions as a distributed epistemic infrastructure organised through recurrence, indexing, durable identifiers, public channels, structured publication and conceptual hardening. What began as serial writing and artistic research has consolidated into a navigable framework connecting architecture, conceptual art, urbanism, environmental perception, pedagogy, media culture, institutional critique and transdisciplinary knowledge design. Its aim is not only to publish texts but to construct the conditions under which a field can become legible, citable, searchable and structurally autonomous.
Lloveras’s professional trajectory includes more than 400 projects across architecture, urbanism, art, exhibition design, furniture, graphics and scenography, combining conceptual inquiry with practical experience in design development, construction and spatial production. He is founder of LAPIEZA, an independent curatorial and research platform through which he has curated more than 180 exhibitions and developed sustained work on relational museography, public interpretation and transdisciplinary cultural production. He is also co-founder of URBANAS, an urbanism and art studio, and has collaborated with practices such as MVRDV in Rotterdam. His work operates across Europe, Latin America and Africa, linking architecture, curating, pedagogy and critical urban research into a coherent practice focused on cultural interpretation, spatial intelligence and experimental forms of public knowledge.
LAPIEZA-LAB functions as the operational surface of this practice: a Madrid-based platform where art, architecture, writing, research, urban theory, public culture and infrastructural authorship meet. It is not conceived as a conventional studio, gallery or academic unit, but as a flexible field apparatus capable of producing exhibitions, research sequences, essays, concepts, public archives, pedagogical formats, datasets and distributed interfaces. Through LAPIEZA-LAB, the authorial signature becomes less a biographical mark than a structural position: the point from which a corpus is assembled, maintained, indexed and projected into public circulation.
The signature Anto Lloveras · FieldArchitect names this position. It defines the author not primarily as producer of isolated works, but as architect of fields, interfaces, indexes, concepts, channels and forms of public legibility. FieldArchitect does not replace the roles of architect, artist, curator, educator or researcher; it binds them into a single operative grammar. It names an authorial practice concerned with how knowledge becomes space, how concepts become infrastructure, how archives become navigable, and how cultural production can acquire enough internal coherence to stand as a field.
