Restoran Splendid * Rotational visibility and the grammar of equality
Restoran Splendid, conceived during a residency on Rabbit Island, is a socioplastic exercise in visual justice, where each participating artist—Brigitte Brand, Kosia, Rudi Benetik, and Anto Lloveras—is photographed occupying the same spatial frame, cycling through identical positions in a choreographed loop of presence and displacement; through this methodical permutation, the project dissolves hierarchies of protagonism, crafting a tableau where foreground and background, subject and witness, dissolve and reappear across eight carefully composed images; this rotational symmetry, echoing a cinematic tracking shot slowed to the rhythm of photographic stillness, transforms the act of portraiture into a relational algorithm that redistributes value and attentiveness across all participants; rather than staging identity, the project enacts a systemic fairness, offering a contemplative grammar where visibility becomes rhythm, and authorship circulates without fixation; the result is a temporal sculpture of equality, one where representation is no longer a spotlight but a shared lens, and where the collective becomes the medium as much as the image.
