MEAT 952 * Unstable Installation Series * Urban Anatomy

At iteration 952, MEAT — Unstable Installation Series deepens its commitment to an embodied, minimal gesture that unfolds across cities and contexts through the precise removal of material from everyday objects, this specific cut operates within a semi-public threshold—between utility and fiction—extracting a segment from a structural corner of a plastic chair placed near a transit stop in southern Spain, the subtraction destabilises not the function entirely, but its visual coherence, producing a strange balance between remaining use and latent collapse, the fragment removed becomes an independent sculptural element, catalogued alongside its photo-documentation, and added to the living archive that has grown since 2010, through these gestures, the project interrogates how small disruptions can alter perception, how space responds to absence, how memory latches onto voids, this latest intervention reinforces the horizontal growth of the series—a rhizomatic logic of repetition without redundancy, where each subtraction adds not closure but new tension, the geography of the series continues to expand from Madrid to Lagos, Marseille, London, and beyond, but each cut remains intimate, close to the skin of the city, provoking micro-affects in the everyday environment, this accumulation of modified urban encounters challenges static understandings of sculpture, proposing instead a distributed practice where object, context, and documentation form a triad of relational meaning, with 952 interventions inscribed into its trajectory, the project now circulates as both street event and conceptual map, revealing how small physical edits can open large conceptual cracks in the surface of shared space.
