Primary Fields and Their Structural Roles

The five fields identified map closely onto the project's public self-presentation and corpus architecture:

  1. Architecture serves as the anchoring constructive logic. It supplies the operative metaphors and methods — strata, thresholds, scalar nesting, morphogenesis, synthetic infrastructure — that govern the entire corpus. Reframing architecture as epistemic infrastructure (designing conditions for knowledge production rather than objects) is the project's foundational mutation. Without this, the decimal rhythm, stratigraphic organisation, and treatment of nodes as load-bearing units lose their coherence.
  2. Urban Theory and Critical Urbanism provide material resistance and testing ground. Concepts like stratigraphic urbanism, infrastructural asymmetry, territorial systems, and ecological/metabolic urbanism ground abstract operators in real-world spatial-political dynamics (e.g., depopulation, thermal inertia, civic permeability). LAPIEZA interventions and Urban Essays series demonstrate that the city functions as both epistemic environment and cognitive organism. Removing urbanism would detach the project from the friction of existing territories and populations.
  3. Epistemology and Systems Theory function as the meta-layer of self-accountability. Contributions such as epistemic latency, recursive autophagia, semantic hardening, trans-epistemology, and field formation theory (pre-academic sovereignty via mass and fixation) give the project its reflexive intelligence. Autopoiesis is adapted but signed and authored, preventing full operational closure. This layer ensures the corpus knows what it is doing; without it, practice would remain productive but unaccountable.
  4. Contemporary Art, Conceptual Practice, and Curatorial Theory supply sensory, affective, and performative dimensions. Through LAPIEZA (180+ series), relational aesthetics is extended into infrastructural relationality; social sculpture evolves via situational fixers (Yellow Bag, Blue Pants); institutional critique shifts toward building alternative epistemic infrastructures rather than deconstructing existing ones. The absorption of 100 artistic works into theoretical nodes 1901–2000 is not decorative — it keeps propositions testable against bodies, objects, and encounters. Without art, the project would flatten into pure writing, losing access to what theory alone cannot register.
  5. Media Theory, Digital Humanities, and Semantic Infrastructure address the historical conditions of possibility. CamelTags as lexical operators, machinic legibility via Hugging Face datasets, DOI fixation, JSON-LD metadata, platform differentiation, and MUSE environment are not tools but epistemological commitments. They theorise persistence under digital volatility and platform entropy. Removing this layer would leave the corpus without an account of why it is structured as distributed, machine-readable infrastructure.

Assessment of Transdisciplinarity

The mapping correctly identifies approximately thirty subfields (scalar architecture, stratigraphic urbanism, post-digital taxidermy, etc.) and demonstrates interdependence. Public profiles (ORCID, Figshare, project index) consistently describe Socioplastics as operating at the intersection of architecture, urban research, conceptual art, and epistemology, with media/digital infrastructure as the enabling substrate. The project's self-description as “transdisciplinary architect and urbanist” whose work treats spatial systems as epistemic and metabolic protocols aligns with this structure.

The strongest connections are among architecture, urbanism, and contemporary art — these form the visible, publicly legible core, especially through LAPIEZA exhibitions, urban interventions, and relational objects. Epistemology and systems theory provide the invisible scaffolding, while media theory/digital humanities supply the contemporary technical and reflexive layer. All five are structurally necessary rather than ornamental: subtraction of any one collapses either the constructive logic, material grounding, self-description, sensory testing, or conditions of persistence.

This is not omnivorous accumulation but a minimal viable set of territories required for the wager — constructing a sovereign field from practice. The mapping is internally consistent and externally verifiable against the corpus metrics, DOIs, and distributed platforms. It passes its own test of genuine transdisciplinarity.
