Data Journeys replaces the image of data as fixed evidential units with an account of data as mobile objects whose meanings, properties and capacities are repeatedly transformed. Its iconic idea is the journey: data move from material encounters and measurements through aggregation, cleaning, visualisation, databases, publications and archives until they are mobilised as evidence for claims. The theoretical contribution is an epistemology of mobility in which reliability cannot be separated from the infrastructures, institutions, formats and labour that allow data to travel. Methodologically, the volume follows data across heterogeneous scientific domains and reconstructs the operations that alter their evidential status, deliberately comparing practices that resist disciplinary containment. This allows provenance, metadata, standardisation, access and reuse to become philosophical objects rather than technical afterthoughts. The wider bridge is to STS, infrastructure studies and critical data studies: knowledge does not emerge from data simply being available, but from organised passages that enable particular forms of comparison while constraining others.
