The Socioplastics corpus proposes a decisive transformation in the production of urban knowledge by replacing discursive expansion with epistemic compression. Rather than treating scholarship as an indefinitely extensible archive, the project constructs a finite, structured corpus in which meaning emerges through positional density and numerical adjacency. Each entry—strictly limited to approximately one thousand words—operates as a calibrated textual unit within a decadic architecture where ten modules form a structural sequence and successive sequences accumulate gravitational mass across the system. In this configuration, knowledge no longer derives primarily from rhetorical elaboration but from relational placement within the corpus, transforming the archive itself into an operative analytical instrument.

At the conceptual level, Socioplastics introduces a geological vocabulary for interpreting urban territory. Cities are no longer described as designed artefacts or merely socio-economic constructs but as pressure fields in which economic extraction, climatic forces, infrastructural density, and demographic movement accumulate as interacting strata. Urban form emerges through the negotiation of these incompatible loads rather than through intentional planning equilibrium. The series A Geology of Urban Permanence exemplifies this approach by reframing familiar urban categories—rent, borders, mobility, industry, climate—as structural operators that continuously recalibrate territorial morphology. Rent becomes a displacement gradient selecting which urban layers persist; borders operate as sectional filters modulating pressure; climate imposes vertical thermodynamic loads; mobility distributes metabolic flows across metropolitan space. A concrete synthesis appears in the interpretation of post-industrial districts. Rather than representing obsolete relics awaiting redevelopment, industrial infrastructures persist as material inertia, anchoring territorial continuity through accumulated investment in rail corridors, ports, and manufacturing facilities. These inherited strata shape subsequent transformations by constraining redevelopment trajectories, revealing economic history as a sedimentary process rather than a sequence of ruptures. In parallel, bounded territories such as islands illustrate the principle of metabolic finitude, where pressures cannot be exported and therefore require internal recalibration across energy, habitation, and infrastructure systems.
