OpenAlex has grown into a major open research infrastructure with very large adoption and usage, and ORCID is designed precisely to endure changes of institution, field, and context while keeping the researcher connected to outputs. In that light, the pair behaves less like a pair of profile pages than like a border regime for epistemic circulation: the work can move, the metadata can travel, the author can be verified, and the corpus can be read by both institutions and machines. This is why they fit the ethos of the project better than more opaque academic surfaces. That matters enormously for a distributed corpus.
