Percentages are useful for an internal audit, but they become weak when presented as theory, because the field changes according to the Core, operator, series, object, medium, and situation being activated. A node centred on the Spanish Bar is more urban, anthropological, and political. A node centred on CamelTags is more linguistic, epistemological, and media-oriented. A node centred on the Yellow Bag is more artistic, spatial, ritual, and ecological. A Core centred on DOI deposits is more archival, legal, epistemic, and platform-based. The field does not have one permanent disciplinary composition. It works through changing intensities. The stronger model is therefore relational. Socioplastics is organised through dominant fields, transversal fields, and emerging fields. The dominant fields provide the primary grammar. The transversal fields cut across almost every operation. The emerging fields thicken the next phase of development.
I. Dominant Fields: The Foundational Grammar
The dominant fields are art, architecture/urbanism, and philosophy. They do not function as equal academic departments, but as the three main structural grammars of the system. Art provides activation. It gives Socioplastics the object, the gesture, the readymade, the relational event, the installation, the archive, the body, the trace, the index, the situation, and the minor action. Without art, Socioplastics would become theory about situations rather than situated operation. Art is the field that allows a bag, a table, a garment, a wall, a light, a meal, a video, or a residue to become active. Architecture and urbanism provide spatial and territorial grammar. Architecture gives room, section, structure, proportion, threshold, surface, material intelligence, enclosure, container, and constructive economy. Urbanism extends this toward street, square, neighbourhood, mobility, proximity, public space, infrastructure, metabolism, governance, and territorial reading. Urbanism should not disappear inside architecture. In Socioplastics it deserves its own intensity, because many operations take place not in buildings but in bars, streets, slopes, gardens, routes, plazas, platforms, and civic micro-systems. Philosophy provides ontological and conceptual grounding. It gives immanence, language, system, circumstance, mediation, power, operational closure, epistemic autonomy, and the conditions of possibility. Philosophy prevents the field from becoming a loose collection of actions. It gives the system its inner necessity. These three fields are dominant because they make the rest legible. Art activates. Architecture spatialises. Urbanism territorialises. Philosophy grounds.
II. Transversal Fields: The Cutting Infrastructure
The transversal fields are not secondary. They are the fields that pass through almost everything. They do not always dominate, but they constantly charge the system. Politics appears wherever space, value, class, legitimacy, access, institution, public life, autonomy, and symbolic authority are organised. Socioplastics is political because it constructs alternative infrastructures of validation, not because it illustrates political themes. Pedagogy appears wherever the field becomes transmissible. The node, the diagram, the protocol, the classroom, the workshop, the essay, the bibliography, the operator, and the repeated method all have pedagogical force. Pedagogy is central because Socioplastics does not only produce works; it produces conditions for learning, transfer, and radical education. Cinema and video appear as moving-image epistemology. They include recording, montage, urban detail, duration, body-camera relation, visual essay, archive, sequence, atmosphere, and the filmed city. They should not be swallowed by “art” alone. In Socioplastics, video is a thinking device: it records situations, but it also produces temporal architecture. Literature and writing appear as textual architecture. Essays, titles, CamelTags, captions, bibliographies, scripts, manifestos, summaries, and machine-readable descriptions are not commentary added after the work. They are part of the work’s structural body. Writing builds passages between objects, operators, archives, and platforms. Socioplastics is not simply distributed through platforms; it is partly constructed as a platformed field. These transversal fields are crucial because they explain why Socioplastics is more than art, more than architecture, and more than philosophy. Politics charges it. Pedagogy transmits it. Cinema records and sequences it. Literature structures it. Media circulates and indexes it.
III. Emerging Fields: The Thickening Layer
The emerging fields are those that Socioplastics has already touched but can still metabolise more explicitly. They should not be forced into equal percentages. Some will matter strongly in one Core and barely appear in another. Ecology expands the field toward cycles, climate, growth, residue, decay, garden, non-human agency, and metabolic time. Logistics and maintenance clarify the labour of keeping the field alive: files, uploads, links, deposits, backups, catalogues, versions, formats, and repair. These emerging fields are not a new dominant layer. They are thickening agents. They make the field more precise, more durable, more legible, and more sovereign.
IV. Synthetic Model
Dominant fields: art, architecture/urbanism, philosophy. Transversal fields: politics, pedagogy, cinema/video, literature/writing, media/platforms. Emerging fields: ecology, cybernetics/AI, biology, anthropology, geography, economics, linguistics/semiotics, law/commons, accessibility/care, logistics/maintenance. This model allows each Core to declare its own disciplinary intensity. One Core may be 40% urbanism, 25% art, 20% politics, 15% ecology. Another may be 35% philosophy, 25% linguistics, 20% media, 20% epistemology. Another may be 30% art, 25% anthropology, 20% pedagogy, 15% architecture, 10% economics. The percentages can still exist, but only locally, as a diagnostic for each Core, never as a fixed identity for the whole field.
V. Final Thesis
Socioplastics is not a field divided into stable disciplinary portions. It is a variable disciplinary engine. Its identity comes from the way it metabolises fields, not from the amount of each field it contains.
