Manuel Maqueda opened his new exhibition in the rooms of Hotel Palomar de la Breña. We drank good brut cava with Eric, our host. More than 40 paintings were hung, in a variety of formats, from very small to large, though never enormous: everything can be carried away and everything is for sale. Manuel wants people to take the work home, which is why the prices are accessible. It makes sense: better that people should have the paintings. There are landscapes, architectures, women’s faces, Maqueda’s classical sensibility, his recurring subjects, his unmistakable gaze and his colour. You are invited to come and choose your painting, according to your own taste. The prices are posted at the entrance; have a coffee, stay the night at El Palomar: it has fifteen rooms, in the middle of La Breña, a mythical place. September is a beautiful month in Cádiz. You are invited. Anto Lloveras, 1 Sep 2026. Photos by AntoLloveras.
