The installation No Credit / Equilaterum (Madrid, 2016) materialises an unexpected economy of form by transforming trivial coins into a precise geometric structure. Built slowly over three months with change received at a fish market, the work translates the residue of daily exchange into a triangle of copper discs that hovers between sculpture, sign, and diagram. The title situates the project in a field of scarcity: the absence of credit is not portrayed as limitation but as creative principle, a refusal of surplus and a celebration of what circulates in modest, almost invisible ways. The triangle itself, equilateral and inverted, draws on archetypes of equilibrium, stability, and symbolic power. Yet its resonance is deliberately unsettled by the material: not gold, nor marble, but cheap, tarnished copper. The humble coin undermines the aura of the form, exposing the tension between abstract geometry and concrete economy. By repeating the unit until it becomes pattern, the work elevates the insignificant into a monumental presence. This piece also resists the temporality of consumption. Its construction demanded patience, accumulation and an attention to process that displaces urgency with care. “No hurry as art” becomes not only a statement of method but an ethic, proposing that value emerges through time and persistence rather than speed. Ultimately, No Credit / Equilaterum operates as socio-plastic commentary: it is both an object of contemplation and a record of circulation, an aesthetic of minimal means that renders the everyday exchange visible.
