MUDAS

Bodies, Leaves and Decay

The MUDAS series, presented in Mexico City in 2013, articulates a poetics of transience through banana leaves arranged as anthropomorphic forms. Their folds, wrinkles, and oxidations suggest vulnerable bodies suspended between life and disappearance. Each piece becomes both a vegetal relic and a human echo, oscillating between sculpture and ephemeral installation. The work proposes a radical ecology of perception, where organic material and social body mirror each other, blurring the limits of art, ritual and decay. Installed in LaPieza and the Hotel Virreyes showroom, the series engages the public in a relational encounter: the leaves, placed on white walls, face the visitors, forcing a silent dialogue on mortality, transformation and the unstable nature of matter. By naming them social sculptures, the artist emphasises the community dimension of the act—each spectator becomes co-participant, completing the fragile presence of these vegetal bodies with their own gaze. MUDAS is thus not only about leaves but about the impermanence of form itself: a reminder that every body, human or vegetal, carries within it the inevitability of change.

ORANGE: Colour–Body–Place ____ 2017 2025 _ FRESH FRESH ___________ LAPIEZA 1089 RECREO

Orange, establishes a minimal yet persistent framework built on the triangulation of colour, body, and place, where the orange operates as a mobile unit of activation. The colour orange is not incidental — it asserts itself as a chromatic constant that punctuates each frame, holding visual tension across multiple settings. This saturated hue is not symbolic but operational, drawing attention and offering consistency across a dispersed set of actions and subjects. Participants such as Federika Montes, Marta Caminos, Amparo Marín and Esther Lo are photographed interacting with the orange through small gestures: holding, smelling, offering, peeling. The body, particularly the hand and face, becomes the interface through which the object is engaged, with action distilled to intimate contact. Each image pairs the subject with the orange, situating them within identifiable environments — from black studio walls and domestic tables to public pavements and institutional contexts. These places are neither neutral backdrops nor fully activated spaces, but rather partial settings where a momentary relationship between object and subject is enacted. By maintaining the orange as a visual and procedural constant, Lloveras constructs a kind of distributed action score, linking different times, people and spaces through a shared protocol. The orange peel, often shown afterwards, materialises the passage of time and links tactile process with visual outcome.
