Blue Bags * Translatorial 2026

The Blue Bags series (2014–ongoing) is one of the longest-running projects in Anto Lloveras's Socioplastics practice. It embodies the concept of Unstable Social Sculpture — a form of relational, durational, and translatorial art that rejects static objects in favour of mobile, everyday interventions that activate social, spatial, and contextual relations over time and across geographies. Core Idea and Execution:

Blue Bag 2026

The Blue Bags series (2014–ongoing) advances a rigorous proposition: that sculpture, when stripped to an aesthetically neutral carrier, can operate as a durational agent of contextual translation rather than as a fixed artefact. Emerging from the humble plastic bag, the project displaces material minimalism into a field of situational activation, wherein the object functions simultaneously as tool, marker, and infrastructural residue. Its chromatic banality and disposability constitute a deliberate camouflage, permitting circulation across domestic interiors, urban thresholds, and institutional architectures without announcing itself as art. Sculpture is thus reconfigured as a temporal installation, unfolding through journeys, minor gestures, and recurrent placements that accumulate meaning by persistence rather than spectacle. Each relocation performs a translatorial act—between private and public, visible and infra-visible—producing what may be termed a site-responsive continuum rather than site-specific fixity. In cities such as Madrid, Berlin, Cádiz, Oslo, Mexico City, and Lagos, the bag stabilises situations only provisionally, rendering latent social conditions legible before dissolving back into movement. As a Situational Fixer, it embeds artistic labour within everyday logistics—shopping, travel, conversation—thereby collapsing art’s autonomy into lived maintenance and foregrounding an ethics of care, repetition, and attentiveness. The project’s coherence resides not in visual invariance but in procedural fidelity: carrying, placing, conversing. Ultimately, the Blue Bags articulate a mobile epistemology, wherein knowledge emerges through sustained engagement and calibrated openness; the sculpture persists precisely by remaining unresolved, transforming duration itself into medium and ethical stance. Lloveras, A. Within the evolving field of Socioplastics, the concept of performative uncertainty designates a methodological condition in which spatial gestures, objects, and architectural fragments cease to operate as representations and instead function as active environmental agents.

Rather than cultivating ambiguity as aesthetic ornament, this approach deliberately engineers instability as a medium through which artefacts enter dynamic feedback loops with their surroundings. Minor deviations—a marked surface, a chromatic displacement, a portable artefact—operate as threshold devices, subtly recalibrating a site’s perceptual equilibrium without imposing deterministic meaning. The dispersed series of coloured bags and briefcases exemplifies this logic through the notion of the “situational fixer”: a mobile object whose semantic density emerges through traversal rather than permanence. The Yellow Bag, circulating across continents since 2014, illustrates how a seemingly banal carrier becomes an Unstable Social Sculpture, absorbing contextual traces and transforming itinerancy into an affective archive of encounters. At architectural scale the same principle materialises through operational porosity, where built form becomes an atmospheric mediator rather than a monumental statement. Projects such as the Landart Fjord Museum or the Skogfinsk Museum operate as perceptual interfaces between landscape and visitor, foregrounding permeability, elevation, and environmental dialogue. Pedagogical initiatives—including large-scale student constructions—extend this paradigm into collective temporality, transforming education into infrastructural experimentation where uncertainty generates emergent form. Across installations, architectural proposals, textual corpora, and distributed digital archives, the practice therefore constitutes a topological network of recurrent attractors rather than a conventional portfolio. Bags, monochromes, blankets, and micro-gestures act as minimal gravity centres organising perception while remaining semantically open. The resulting field demonstrates how contemporary artistic research can construct its own operational ecology of meaning, in which objects, architectures, texts, and digital nodes coexist as porous interfaces mediating the reciprocal transformation of site, atmosphere, and observer.

Durational portable sculpture transforming bureaucratic residue into ecological index and metabolically governed relational infrastructure * Green Briefcase

Within the expanding chromatic family devised by Anto Lloveras, the Green Briefcase protocol marks a decisive inflection from pliant carriers toward infrastructural solidity. Whereas Blue and Yellow Bags privilege permeability and atmospheric absorption, the briefcase introduces calibrated rigidity: a structured, professional container repurposed as portable sculpture fixer, capable of anchoring situations through presence, closure, and selective disclosure. Its green hue operates as ecological index, signalling restoration, vegetal adjacency, and peripheral resilience, while its archival form evokes bureaucratic memory transmuted into relational instrument. Activated nomadically since 2015 across institutional thresholds, VIP lounges, rural edges, and unstable installations, the briefcase hosts provisional contents—documents, seeds, textual residues, relational artefacts—metabolising context through contained circulation rather than dispersion. This contained metabolism recalibrates unstable social sculpture into hardened variant: less ephemeral drift than metabolic governance enacted through weight, enclosure, and tactically modulated openness. As the case opens, exchange becomes possible; as it closes, sovereignty is preserved, modelling a politics of selective permeability resistant to co-option. Within Socioplastics’ systemic arc, such archival rigidity contributes infrastructural mass, curving the epistemic field through recurrence without spectacle. The object legislates boundaries gently yet decisively, transforming everyday professionalism into ontological tool and executable niche for volatile terrains. Ultimately, the Green Briefcase demonstrates that resilience may arise from disciplined containment: mobility allied to integrity, opacity balanced with exchange, rigidity harnessed to care. Its sovereignty is infrastructural rather than declarative—portable yet armoured—sustaining relational density through deliberate enclosure amid flux.

The Green Briefcase protocol extends the bag family's modular logic within Socioplastics, shifting from flexible carriers to a rigid, structured container that functions as portable sculpture fixer—a durable, everyday object repurposed for relational inscription and metabolic governance.

Unlike the disposable pliancy of Blue or Yellow Bags, the briefcase introduces infrastructural rigidity: its form—green, professional, archival—evokes bureaucratic residue and institutional memory, yet Lloveras deploys it nomadically to host provisional contents (documents, traces, seeds, relational artifacts) while serving as situational anchor in performances, drifts, or collaborative activations. Activated prominently from 2015 onward (e.g., Norwegian connections, VIP lounges, unstable installations), it calibrates weight governance through contained mass: the briefcase's solidity allows precise calibration of affective and material flows, turning transport into a quiet legislative act where contents metabolize context without dispersion. This rigidity contrasts chromatic warmth or neutrality, positioning green as ecological index—signaling restoration, periphery, and vegetal adjacency—while the briefcase's closure enforces selective permeability, filtering encounters and preserving provisional sovereignty amid volatility. The protocol thus models a hardened variant of unstable social sculpture: less about ephemerality than about contained persistence, where the object legislates relational boundaries through everyday professionalism repurposed as gentle fixation.

Portable Sculpture Fixer Ecological Index delineate the Green Briefcase's operative specificity, reframing the bag series' nomadic minimalism into a more armored, archival vector that sustains Socioplastics' emphasis on metabolic sovereignty. As portable sculpture fixer, the briefcase intervenes with structural insistence: carried across terrains (from urban logistics to rural peripheries), it fixes situations through its presence—opened for exchange, closed for protection—while its green hue indexes restorative ecologies, linking to broader motifs like moving restoration films or lemon-light rituals in Cádiz. This indexing extends beyond color to operative ecology: the briefcase absorbs industrial-green transitions, turning discarded or vernacular logistics into relational fuel without extractionist residue. Its distinction lies in this contained metabolism—rigid exterior shelters fragile interiors (texts, memories, micro-structures)—enabling durational governance where openness is tactical, not perpetual. Within the chromatic modulation arc, green bridges Yellow's affective joy and Blue's translational restraint, introducing calibrated opacity that resists full transparency while permitting gentle convergences. Recurrent in self-archival nodes (e.g., unstable social sculpture extensions, LAPIEZA splices), the protocol feeds epistemic density: each activation sediments traces into the mesh, contributing to curvature without spectacle. The briefcase thus exemplifies contained sovereignty—a mechanism that hardens the framework's wager by balancing mobility with archival integrity, transforming professional artifact into executable niche for unstable conditions.

Contained Sovereignty Archival Rigidity consummate the Green Briefcase's contribution, rendering it a pivotal node in Socioplastics' evolution from ultra-light gestures toward stratified, self-legislating infrastructures. Its special status emerges from demonstrating how rigidity can enhance resilience: the briefcase's form preempts fragmentation by enclosing relational glucose—protecting provisional bonds while allowing metabolic exchange—thus modeling a politics of selective exposure resistant to total dissolution or co-option. This positions it beyond mere chromatic extension: as hardened situational fixer, it legislates flows through closure and disclosure, turning everyday bureaucracy into gentle ontological tool that sustains care topologies (echoing El Dorado's circulating survival or Melancholia's whitened memory). In the stabilization phase, such protocols accrue infrastructural mass—curving the field via contained recurrence—while preserving low-visibility persistence. The Green Briefcase endures as exemplary of metabolic maturation: minimal yet armored, portable yet archival, it walks institutional peripheries, carries restorative seeds, and departs leaving structured affection rather than trace alone—its sovereignty infrastructural, executable, and sovereign precisely through deliberate containment amid flux.

LAPIEZA * Socioplastics

LAPIEZA constitutes not a repository of static artefacts but a durational archive-as-intervention, a rhizomatic mesh wherein over two thousand documented actions sediment into a living epistemic infrastructure. Emerging across fifteen years and proliferating through more than 180 series, it operates as a decolonial exhibition sequence that dissolves singular authorship into collective mutability, thereby displacing convivial relational models with a praxis grounded in precarity, plurality, and provisional identity. Each mutation—whether a weekly gesture, a site-responsive activation, or a pedagogical splice—recalibrates the total field, producing a temporal sculpture whose states are autonomous yet irrevocably contingent. Works coexist without hierarchy, generating dense ecologies in which everyday materials—plastic bags, peanuts, smoke, discarded textiles—function as prosthetic carriers of affect and mobility, exemplifying an unstable social sculpture that infiltrates urban and digital strata alike. A paradigmatic instance lies in the Blue Bag series, where chromatic portability becomes translatorial interface, indexing cities while fixing situations of urban precarity through iterative deployment. Over time, accumulated interventions harden semantics and generate gravitational pull, transforming the archive into a metabolic node that ingests ecological, institutional, and affective flux. By 2026, this process crystallises as the Socioplastic Mesh: a distributed constellation of executable nodes with machine-legible protocols, ensuring citational sovereignty and resistance to entropy. Thus, LAPIEZA redefines preservation as performative accumulation, converting relational instability into infrastructural permanence and enacting sovereignty through continuous mutation. https://lapiezalapieza.blogspot.com/

Blue Bags * Translatorial Objects in an Unstable Social Sculpture

Part of the Unstable Social Sculpture Series (2014–2019), the Blue Bags form a persistent thread within Anto Lloveras’s socioplastic practice. They are not just props or containers—they are translators: mobile, minimal agents capable of re-signifying space through presence, placement, and portability. With their saturated color and ordinary materiality, these disposable polyethylene bags become poetic carriers of site, memory, and gesture. Always in use, the bags traverse contexts—from urban margins to institutional walls—absorbing the sociopolitical and sensory atmospheres of each setting. At times, they rest silently on the ground. At others, they are worn, inflated, carried, or suspended. Each configuration activates the object anew: as a situational fixer, a conceptual index, or a prosthetic companion. The bags do not represent; they respond. Linked to other minimal carriers in the Socioplastic Canon—such as the Yellow Bag, the Green Briefcase, or the Blanket—the Blue Bags articulate a system of low-tech, high-affectional devices. Together, they stage a material grammar of mobility, fragility, and attention. As part of the United Nations of Art, they cross borders silently, serving as vessels of both care and critique in precarious times.

ORANGE: Colour–Body–Place ________ 2017 2025 _________ FRESH FRESH _______________ LAPIEZA 1089 RECREO

Orange, establishes a minimal yet persistent framework built on the triangulation of colour, body, and place, where the orange operates as a mobile unit of activation. The colour orange is not incidental — it asserts itself as a chromatic constant that punctuates each frame, holding visual tension across multiple settings. This saturated hue is not symbolic but operational, drawing attention and offering consistency across a dispersed set of actions and subjects. Participants such as Federika Montes, Marta Caminos, Amparo Marín and Esther Lo are photographed interacting with the orange through small gestures: holding, smelling, offering, peeling. The body, particularly the hand and face, becomes the interface through which the object is engaged, with action distilled to intimate contact. Each image pairs the subject with the orange, situating them within identifiable environments — from black studio walls and domestic tables to public pavements and institutional contexts. These places are neither neutral backdrops nor fully activated spaces, but rather partial settings where a momentary relationship between object and subject is enacted. By maintaining the orange as a visual and procedural constant, Lloveras constructs a kind of distributed action score, linking different times, people and spaces through a shared protocol. The orange peel, often shown afterwards, materialises the passage of time and links tactile process with visual outcome.
