The Yellow Bag and the Architecture of Affection (Lloveras, 2014–2026) SITUATIONAL FIXER

The Yellow Bag series constitutes one of the most radical gestures of reduction within contemporary socio-plastic practice. Emerging in 2014 and remaining active for more than a decade, the work resists the fetishisation of the art object by proposing instead what Anto Lloveras terms a “situational fixer”: a minimal, portable device through which context, memory, and affection are activated. The bag is neither sculpture nor prop, neither container nor archive in the conventional sense. Its power lies precisely in its emptiness, in its capacity to receive and transmit without accumulation. Positioned within the broader framework of Unstable Installation Series, the Yellow Bag reframes artistic practice as continuous presence rather than episodic production. The reference to Beckett’s What Is the Word is not ornamental; it signals an ethics of hesitation, of working at the threshold of language and form. The monochromatic insistence of yellow operates as a visual constant, a satellite colour orbiting mutable environments. In doing so, the work displaces authorship from fabrication to attention, from object-making to situated listening. The Yellow Bag thus functions as an architecture of affection: a fragile yet persistent structure that hosts relations rather than forms.

Socioplastics is a long-term research practice where architecture, art, performance, and social inquiry converge to produce situations rather than objects.

SOCIOPLASTICS treats space as relational and temporary: light materials, everyday gestures, and collective participation become tools to activate attention, care, and co-presence. Architecture appears here as an action—built, walked, carried, listened to—existing through time, use, memory, and repetition instead of permanence. Across its different lines—ephemeral architectures, relational devices, urban interventions, and platform-based ecosystems—each project functions as a node within the same living system. Objects such as bags, blankets, or briefcases operate as mediators; rituals recalibrate bodies and environments; the city becomes a performative field; and documentation acts as transmission, not closure. Socioplastics is thus an evolving archive: a transdisciplinary grammar where gesture becomes structure, and art becomes a quiet, adaptable infrastructure for connection.

Never Alone * Lemon Protocols * The Somatic Ritual Pula (2014)

LEMON KISS, presented at Luka Gallery in Pula, unfolds as a protocol of relational presence, where lemons act as affective interfaces and temporal markers in a choreography of everyday signals, staging a sensual micro-politics of visibility through the daily act of kissing a lemon and placing it in a window, a ritual that blends tenderness, decay and quiet communication into an unstable social sculpture; far from being still life, each lemon becomes a living node in a distributed network of meaning, its surface bruising with time, its scent infiltrating space, while the installation scales up into a constellation of 100 bright lemons, archival posters, cuttings of meat, sand from Bolonia, and fragments of compressed video diaries sourced from street footage across Mexico City, Berlin, Madrid and London, configuring a layered assemblage of tags, hyperlinks and material memory; simultaneously personal and open-source, the show operates as a solo that refuses solitude, pulling in the digital ecosystem of LaPieza, including 120 online adds and ten numbered poster sets, treating the gallery as a relational engine rather than a static site, where scent, color and memory collide; the yellow bag, making its first appearance, extends the earlier Blue Bags series, and stands here as a portable totem of urban dérive, a soft container of moments, gossip, residue; curated without finality, LEMON KISS invites proximity without possession, intimacy without fixity, showing that in Lloveras’s practice, smell is structure, presence is porous, and sculpture happens in the interstices between gesture, platform and time. Lloveras, A. Yellow Bag Series * Rituals (2014–2026)

After more than a decade in uninterrupted activation, the Yellow Bag endures not as an art object but as a situational ritual—silent, mobile, and adaptive—proving that contemporary art can be radically simple, ecologically sustainable, and ontologically contextual. Born within the broader framework of Socioplastics, a high-resolution cultural operating system initiated by Anto Lloveras in 2010, the Yellow Bag operates as a situational fixer, traversing geographies and institutions while absorbing microelements of presence: seeds, sand, leaves, dust, breath. These modest collections accumulate not as trophies, but as a geo-poetic archive, each particle a residue of attention, encounter, and coexistence. Neither curated nor exhibited in a conventional sense, the Yellow Bag is donated to institutions or individuals as a reparative gesture, transforming museums, art spaces, or even domestic interiors into active nodes of shared memory. The Bag thus displaces authorship in favour of distributed care, prioritising presence over possession and process over product. Its form—flexible, foldable, and materially neutral—rehearses a grammar of relational instability, operating not as monument, but as minimal infrastructure for affective repair. Rooted in the Trans-Indigenous ethos of Socioplastics, the Yellow Bag subverts the extractivist logics of collection and ownership by returning presence instead of taking it. Through ritual repetition across sites like Madrid, Cádiz, Galicia, Trondheim, Athens, London, and La Gomera, it deposits not a fixed aesthetic, but an evolving practice of epistemic and spatial listening. Each use activates it anew; each place redraws its meaning. Carried, opened, rested, folded—it is an infrastructure of care, a portable memory unit, a living sculpture that inscribes itself in territory through soft contact and situated engagement. On this logic, even its itinerary—Madrid, Croatia, Provence, Bratislava, Galicia, London, Serbia, Tirol, Lagos, Mallorca, Compostela—is not a record of conquest, but of return and resonance. The Yellow Bag is a social sculpture, yes—but not in the sense of large forms shaping society, but as small mobile forms absorbing it. It offers a tactile, silent resistance to institutional inertia, and an invitation to participate in the reconfiguration of memory through gesture. No leftovers. Love love.
