Restoran Splendid: visual rotation as social equality

Restoran Splendid, a socioplastic installation by Anto Lloveras developed during the Rabbit Island residency, performs a formal experiment in rotational equality by placing every artist—Brigitte Brand, Kosia, Rudi Benetik, and Lloveras himself—in identical poses across a set of eight staged photographs, shifting roles from foreground to background, subject to context; this systematic rotation dismantles the visual hierarchies often inherent in group portraiture, offering instead a looped tableau of equivalence, where visibility and presence are continuously redistributed; the gesture critiques authorial dominance by enacting a democratic choreography, one in which every contributor is alternately seen and shadowed, centralized and obscured; through repetition and structural play, Restoran Splendid manifests socioplastics not as a style but as a method of communal framing, challenging representational norms and generating a social image calibrated by rhythm rather than ego.
