Totem Fire — Renewal as Practice

This action emerged from a collective decision: to burn the work as the work itself, transforming accumulation into release. Together with the Placton collective, we enacted a ritual of renewal in which the totem, built from discarded matter and past gestures, became fuel for a shared moment of dissolution. The fire functioned as an unstable sculpture—alive, temporary, unrepeatable—where authorship dissolved into heat, noise and presence. Rather than destruction, the act affirmed a cycle: letting pieces go so that practice can continue unburdened. In the glow of the bonfire, the group became a single organism, a brief community forged by combustion, celebrating that art, like life, advances through burning, clearing, and beginning again.
